One of the reddest hydrangeas you’ll find, with stunning mophead flowers and burgundy stems, flowers eventually fade to purple; plants bloom on both new and old wood for a prolonged flowering season
Forever And Ever Red Hydrangea features bold balls of red flowers with violet overtones at the ends of the branches from early summer to mid fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It has forest green foliage throughout the season. The glossy pointy leaves do not develop any appreciable fall color. The fruit is not ornamentally significant. The burgundy stems can be quite attractive.
Red hydrangeas are hard to find. Most that profess to be red are actually a dark pink. Even those that are almost a red can benefit from some lime added to the soil now and then.
Red hydrangeas planted in acidic soil may suffer some color change from too much aluminum uptake. Like other hydrangeas with globes of flowers, they offer large green leaves and summer flower spheres gracing the outer regions of the plant.
They bloom most of the summer, and can make excellent cut flowers. With the new cultivars now available, the gardener has many more choices than were available in the past.
We carry a variety Forever & Ever® Hydrangeas each year. Check out their website at foreverandeverplants.com and let us know if there is a particular variety you would like to see in our inventory or call us to check on this variety at 724-925-7261.
